ASAM-C Brewing Supplies and Storage Containers
TerraFerm kits provide the core ASAM-C inputs. These are the practical containers, heaters, controls, quality-check tools, and storage containers customers need to brew ASAM-C with consistent results.
Brewing Supply Checklist
Inputs
TerraFerm ASAM-C kit inputs, mother culture, unsulfured blackstrap molasses, and dechlorinated water.
Container
Food-grade vessel with headspace and a lid that can accept an airlock or blowoff tube.
Temperature
Controller, heat wrap or mat, insulation, and safe cord placement away from liquid.
Measurement
pH meter or strips, temperature gun, batch log, and optional ORP meter for advanced users.
Venting
Airlock or blowoff tube so fermentation gas can leave without routine fresh-air exchange.
Storage
1-gallon and 5-gallon cubitainers, labels, caps, and a clean storage area out of direct sunlight.
Example Brewing Setup
Brewing Vessel
Use a clean food-grade brewing bucket, HDPE fermenter, drum, or tank sized with enough headspace for the working batch. For larger systems, use a rated stand or platform and secondary containment.
Temperature Control
Use the Inkbird ITC-308 Series controller with a properly sized heat source. Keep electrical components outside splash zones and do not overload the controller.
Heating and Insulation
Use a low-watt wrap, controlled heat mat, drum heater, or insulated chamber. Verify plastic-safe use, vessel fit, and temperature gradients before running a full batch.
Venting
Use an airlock or blowoff tube so fermentation gas can leave without routine fresh-air exchange. Larger batches need pressure-safe venting that cannot clog or kink.
Measurement
Use pH strips or a digital pH meter. Add a temperature gun for quick external checks and ORP only for advanced tracking.
Storage and Harvest
Gravity feed or siphon into labeled 1-gallon or 5-gallon cubitainers. Do not use an impeller pump.
Recommended Sources
Temperature Controller
Inkbird ITC-308 Series temperature controller is the general recommendation; ITC-306T is a heating-only option for users who do not need cooling control.
Heaters
For smaller setups, review the VEVOR 5-gallon 800W drum heater. For 55-gallon setups, review the VEVOR 55-gallon 1200W drum heater. Verify vessel fit and plastic-safe use before installing.
Temperature Gun
Recommended Inkbird model: INK-IFT02 infrared thermometer.
pH Meter
Recommended model: Apera PH60 Premium Waterproof pH Tester. Use calibration and storage solution, or choose an equivalent well-rated pH meter.
Optional ORP Meter
Recommended model: Apera ORP60 Premium ORP Pocket Tester. Keep ORP as an advanced option, not a first-time requirement.
Cubitainers
Good sources found: The Cary Company and U.S. Plastic. Choose food-grade cubitainers with compatible caps and cartons.
5-Gallon Fermenter Example
Speidel Plastic Fermenter – 20L (5.3 gal) is a practical small-batch food-grade vessel example. Confirm lid, airlock, spigot, headspace, cleaning access, and temperature-control fit before use.
Mother Culture
Suggested mother culture source: SCD ProBio Balance Plus.
Safety Notes
Use food-grade containers only. Do not use containers previously used for pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers, oxidizers, fuel, or unknown chemicals. Keep electrical devices out of splash zones and use GFCI protection around liquid.
Keep Supplies Simple
Start with the smallest setup that lets you brew, monitor, vent, and harvest safely. Move to larger systems only when batch size, handling, and safety requirements justify it.
